Covenant Classical School’s K-4 Program gives children the readiness and early literacy skills they need for learning success. The Sing, Spell, Read and Write Pre-K Curriculum features developmentally appropriate activities recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children that build a strong foundation for learning to read and write. Activities are implemented keeping in mind the capabilities and limitations of four-year-old children: their coordination, the length of their attention span, the appeal and familiarity of the topics, and the need for simplicity. Readiness Lane activities teach colors, shapes, opposites, alike and different, classification, directional concepts, sequencing, matching, and the seasons. Alphabet Lane activities teach letter and number recognition, visual and auditory discrimination, phonemic awareness, basic number concepts, and fine motor skill development. Manipulatives and games build fine motor skills and encourage visual discrimination and eye hand coordination. The most important element of our K-4 program is the loving and nurturing environment of our school. Covenant Classical School has a “family feel” which makes the transition from home-to-school much easier for both parents and children. Our K-4 students feel loved and secure.
