Kenny Butler

Class of 2004 was the CCS sound system operator for years.  It’s not surprising, then, that he is excelling in engineering in the United States Air Force.  Kenny is finishing training at Shepherd Air Force Base in TX after a rigorous basic training at Lackland AFB also in Texas.  He will finish with a 3-week specialized training in Tucson, AZ.  Kenny’s first duty station will be Pope AFB right here in NC, but he’s hoping for an overseas assignment after that.

2004 valedictorian at CCS, was recently inducted into the Garnet Circle, the top 25 undergraduate scholars at Erskine College in SC.  Continuing her academic excellence, Lauren carries a 4.0 average while running NCAA Division II cross country at Erskine.  It's not all about studying however:  she sings in both Women's Chorale and gospel choir, plays intramural "ultimate frisbee," and even enjoys ballroom dancing class.  She is majoring in History, thanks to the conscientious and enthusiastic teaching of her CCS teachers, she says.

May 2008 :At the Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society) Regionals meeting held at Georgia State University, Lauren Cross received the award for the Ancient History category for her paper "A Vow to Her Heavenly Country: The Passion of Saint Perpetua."    A history major, Lauren will be graduating from Erskine College in May.
