The CCS Library at a Glance

God has greatly blessed Covenant Classical School with a library to serve students, faculty, staff, and families with an ongoing expanding collection of over 5,700 printed volumes of fiction, non-fiction, Reference, and Teacher Resources. The CCS Library also subscribes to several educational magazines including National Geographic, National Geographic Kids, National Geographic History, Science News, American History, Ranger Rick, and Cobblestone. A Book Fair is held every spring in which books can be purchased for inclusion in the library’s collection. Profits gained from the fair benefit the CCS Library and CCS PTO. Used book donations are accepted at any time during the year. Please view the online library catalog below to locate titles and duplicate information.

Reading is a strong part of the classical curriculum with outside reading highly encouraged. Grammar School students participate in the annual Reading Log Challenge in April to further encourage and initiate reading opportunities for our students.

Student Use

Student UseGrammar School classes (JK-6) have a 30 minute scheduled Library visit each week in which students check-out books, read, and/or complete class assignments. JK, K, and 1st Grade classes have scheduled story time at the beginning of each visit. Research assistance is provided to classes as needed. Upper School students use the Library as needed to read, study, take tests, complete library research, participate in orientation visits as a class, and/or check-out books. Students have access to online databases via NC Live and Cabarrus County Public Library. A public library card is required to access these databases. Senior students also have on-campus access to services, databases, and the print collection of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and the Abbot Vincent Taylor Library of Belmont Abbey College. Please see links below for more information.
