In May of 2021 we welcomed our own Sarah Arensman to the position of Head of School. Working alongside the new Head of School, we are blessed to have Dawn Russell continue as our Assistant Head of School. We believe this administrative selection offers Covenant Classical School a seasoned teacher and leader in Mrs. Arensman, as well as the continuity and experience of Mrs. Russell. Together this team will continue to lead the students and families of both the upper and grammar schools with excellence.

Sarah Arensman has a BA in Humanities from The University of North Carolina at
Greensboro, graduating summa cum laude. Sarah started at CCS in 2012, as our fifth grade
teacher. However, due to her versatility and mastery across many disciplines, she has taught
Latin, Logic, Debate, Bible, English, Rhetoric, and History over the past nine years. Sarah was
the new faculty development director and mentor from 2016-2018, and stepped into the
leadership role as Dean of the Upper School in 2019.

Sarah and her husband Scott have six children, five of whom have attended Covenant. Their two oldest children are married and live in the area. The next two are in college, and the youngest two are at CCS in the 9th and 11th grade. They also have two grandchildren who call them “Marmee” and “Pops”. We are delighted that Sarah is willing to join our school in a new capacity and look forward to watching how God will use her in His hands to continue His good work at CCS. Our school has taken great steps towards ensuring the best in Christian Classical Education, and we look forward with great anticipation to this new season God has for us.
