What I Really Want For Christmas

You can tell a lot about a child by their Christmas wish list. I remember one year, our eldest, an adventurer, wanted mystery books; our #2 daughter, the girly-girl, wanted a tea set and a parasol; our son, guy that he is, wanted a slingshot, just...

Making the Grade- But Whose Grade is It?

Have you ever felt tied to your child’s school performance? Does your stomach sink or blood pressure rise when you see a low grade? I wonder, how does a parent’s identity get so caught up in their child’s grade? Grades are simply tools for...

Letters from Mom—Sending Your Child Off to College with a Piece of Home

“Sometimes when I can’t sleep, I come sit in the rocker in your room and watch you in your crib. Your mouth is a puckered rosebud and your breath slips in and out, unseen. I hear it, though, even just standing at the door I can hear you breathe. It...

Choosing the Right School for Your Child

Choosing the best school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. There are so many factors to consider: public vs. private, class room size, homework, uniforms, Christian vs. secular, and on and on. In this...
